The theatre of people's wish

In September 2001, the 1st Republican Youth Congress was held in Aktau. The Head of State, Nursultan Nazarbayev, who arrived in Mangystau on a working visit, talked to the youth of the forum about the special interests of them. One of them is a Zhanaozen girl said:

 - “Dear Nursultan Abishevich, we love the culture and art of our nation.

We want to see a concert in our free time and to go to the theater and enjoy the amusement. Unfortunately, the region has been built for the second time, but still there is no theater. We have theaters in all regional centers of the country. We also want to support the theater in Aktau”.

 The President instructed the akim of the region L.Kiinov to solve the problem of theatrical construction quickly. The problem was discussed in the regional akimat, the construction of a double hall as a cinema, and the reconstruction of the restored building, received.

 Thus, the theatre began with the moment of construction. The theater administration was formed and directed to the future theatrical collective, and its leadership was approved by a skilled specialist in the field of culture in the region, a well-experienced citizen N.M .Mukhanov. At the republican level, the tremendous interest and interest of the local theatre was complicated by the economic situation and financial shortage. At the same time, the mother of the republic theaters and other artistic and artistic institutions of the theater have been looking for future creative and special-technical specialists in the theatre, providing them with accommodation, bedding and entertainment. In addition, theatrical construction and the creative team had the opportunity to present premier performances preparation was completed in the set time!

 March the 21st  of  2003 remains as a birthday of the theatre. The opening ceremony of the Mangystau regional theater with the participation of national theatre workers and representatives of the regional public took place in a very festive atmosphere. In one hall of the theatre the classic works of the Kazakh drama - "Kyz Zhibek" by G. Musrepov was held, and "Tomiris"  of T.Altypbayev was presented in the other hall, and both performances were highly appreciated by the public.

 From that day creative history of the Mangystau theatre began. Day by day and further on , each season the theatre staff was completed  with talented actors and at the same time the repertoire was filled with the old classic works of the world and Kazakh dramaturgy.

  In 2006, the Mangystau Regional Musical Drama Theater was named after Nurmukhan Zhanturin, the prominent figure in national theatre and cinema field, People's Artist of Kazakhstan, State Prize winner. In his congratulatory letter, the well-known writer of our time Abish Kekilbayev describes the role and the nature of the great actor in art:

“ I am delighted to hear that there is a significant event in Mangystau region that does not leave anybody indifferent to the Kazakh art. In April we visited the saint and historical places of Mangystau, while visiting we prayed for Nurmukhan Zhanturin and now I am glad  with the successful implementation of our conviction. 

National theatre art is one of the greatest achievements of the Kazakh culture of the twentieth century. Scenic art has revealed many centuries-long spiritual qualities throughout the Sahara people. Kazakh people could see their great nature with their own eyes for the first time and also could feel it with their heart. In this wonderful process, the Kazakh spectators were glad and satisfied by the art of brightest actor- Nurmukhan Zhanturin. Nurmukhan Zhanturin was a talented great actor who was seen not only on the Kazakh stage, but also on the stages of world capitals. I am especially excited about the fact that the name of the perfect man, who did not fight for glory and did not do anything except art is worthy of praise. Nurmukhan Zhanturin's title - the flag of the search of pure art and great talent. The young theatre collective of Aktau theatre  is moving forward towards the height of honor!”

These words have been acknowledged by the national theatre art and its glitterer Nurmukhan Zhanturin as a real prize of their merits, and is a blessing to the young theatre staff!

Over the past fifteen years, the theatre has performed 72 plays on various genres and diverse themes, and presented to the spectators .The theatre repertoire includes dramaturgical heritage from the world stage, including W. Shakespeare, J. Moller, A.Chekhov, Sh. Aytmatov, F.Erve as well as the classics of the Kazakh drama art, M.Auezov, G.Musrepov, translated the best drama samples into the Kazakh language as well as A.Kekilbayev, also S.Akhmad, D.Isabekov, T.Temenov , M. Baizhiev, G.Hugayev, as well as S. Nazarabek, N.Mukhanov, S.Kudaybergen and other authors.

 During these years, the creative collective  has participated in national and international theatrical festivals and competitions and has received Grand Prizes and other awards.  Participating in the various competitions, having gone on tours to far and near abroad, the actors developed  their skills and traditions, and brought this theater not only to the region but also to the leading positions in the republic.

 During these  years, on the basis of the theatre were  held such festivals as  “the 16th Republican Theater Festival, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the People's Artist of Kazakhstan, N. Zhanturin”, “Theatre Festival of Kazakhstan and Central Asia countries”, “The 1st republic Theatre festival ‘The world of Abish’”, “The 1st Theatre Festival of Caspian countries dedicated to the 80th anniversary of  Kazakhstani Labor Hero Assanali Ashimov”. All of them were organized very highly.

The creative team regularly invites the best directors of the country and the CIS theaters to stage performances, conduct master classes, and establish professional and business contacts with their colleagues. Among them the best actors of the country, People's Artists of Kazakhstan Y.Obaev , T. Temenov, Honored Workers of the Republic of Kazakhstan R. Mashurova, E. Tuyakov, Laureate of State Prize of Kyrgyzstan S. Matveyev, Chief Director of the State Theatre of Sakha State of Russia S. Potapov and many others.

 Today, the only professional theatre in the region works in five thematic areas: musical; dramatic; performances for teens and children; as well as a Russian troupe, which was opened at the request of the audience.

The theater pays a lot of attention to the issues that arise during the time of the event, to the most important public events and events in the life of the country. At the initiative of the creative collective the great representatives of great Abai, M.Makatayev, prominent representatives of modern Kazakh literature E. Rauchanov, S. Adai, introduced their poetic works to the audience in a scenic language and introduced their artistic approach to the audience, which was very well received by the audience.

In order to contribute by professionalism and creative search to the programme of the president  "Spiritual Renaissance" which is working all over the state ,theatre collective tries to select and show plays according to this theme. Also we are sure that  theatrical public events such as The Republican Theatre Festival dedicated to the 85th anniversary of  Nurmukhan  Zhanturin and the First  International Festival "WORLD OF ABISH" which is planned for the next year will bring more audience to the theatre.

So, Mangystau Regional Music and Drama Theatre named after N. Zhanturin, which was created by the  people's wish  is going forward with the people.
